No, the muzzle energy of the Daisy Grizzly is 1.39fpe...It takes a minimum of 2.0fpe at impact to take even a mouse, or sparrow...





$70 is too much for that rifle anyway.

If you're looking for a multi-pump pneumatic for under $70 I would suggest the Crosman 2100**...You can hunt small game(rabbit, etc) out to around 45 feet with this one.

Yes, but it is really on the low-end of what you would need. I would not personally try to take squirrels with less than 500 fps in a .177 cal pellet gun, and would never, ever try to take anything other than a mouse or sparrow with an actual BB.





Check your local regulations, as squirrels are regulated as game animals. In some states (PA, I know) do not allow you to hunt anything with an air rifle.





Also, many birds, such as doves, are regulated under an international treaty for migratory birds, so this puts them under federal regulations, and it's illegal to hunt them or other migratory game birds with a rifle. A BB or Pellet Gun is considered a rifle.
It depends. Mice take 2 ft-lbs of impact energy. If you're shooting an 8 grain lead pellet at 350 fps, then it would barely generate enough energy (2.16 ft-lbs) to kill a mouse at the muzzle (or maybe 10 feet) if you make a headshot. Beyond that the answer is it does not have enough energy. With a 5 grain BB or pellet, it does not have enough energy to kill a mouse at any distance since it only produces 1.36 ft-lbs of muzzle energy.





Squirrels and pigeon-sized birds take 3 ft-lbs of impact energy to kill with headshots. A Daisy Grizzly does not produce that amount of energy at any range and should not ever be used to hunt those species.





So far I've been very negative about using the Daisy Grizzly for hunting. I'm going to be a bit more negative, and then I'll give you a better option. In all likelihood, Daisy is using 4-5 grain pellets to boost the muzzle velocity claims of the Grizzly. Which means that you probably will see closer to 300 or 325 fps with 8 grain hunting pellets. That will put the Daisy under the minimum needed to hunt mice/rats.





Now that I've hopefully cured you of wanting to use the Daisy Grizzly for hunting, I'm going to recommend a couple of inexpensive pellet guns that are capable of being used for hunting. First, take a look at the multi-pump Crosman 2100 (also known as the Remington Airmaster 77) in 4.5mm (.177) caliber. It costs about $20 more than the Grizzly, but it delivers slightly over 9 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. That's enough power to hunt mice and rats out to around 30 yards, squirrels and pigeons to around 20-25 yards, and rabbits out to around 15-20 yards with proper shot placement. Its a much better option and its still quite affordable. Another good option would be the co2 powered Crosman 2260 in 5.6mm (.22) caliber. At just under $80 its a bit more expensive, but it will give you 9-11 ft-lbs of energy (depending on the velocity you're getting from the co2 cartridge) which again is enough for mice, squirrels, pigeons, and rabbits out to around 25 yards with proper shot placement.
you can kill a lot of game animals with a air rifle but you have to do work to it because i had a friend that had one and we kill kangaroos with it and rabbits it all so went through his shed and it was made of tin to do work to it in side it has a spring and you pull that out you can ether stretch it or put a stronger spring in it.


when you do this the difference is unbelievable.


if you do this just remember don't shoot your friend like you normally. do if your like me.
