confusing wouldnt you say ???If it was the Rocky %26amp; Bullwinkle show why did Boris always refer to them as Moose%26amp; Squirrel ?
It was a minor part of the way the show portayed and made fun of the 1950s stereotypical view of Russian and how they speak. That is, they are supposedly so backwards and foreign to American english speaking people that their attempts to speak english gets mixed up and often the order of the words gets jumbled.
The creators of Rocky and Bullwinkle (and a number of other shows) were Jay Ward, Bill Scott and Alexander Anderson Jr., who were very patriotic fellows. They often portayed foriegners (especially those supposedly from eastern Europe and Russia) in very unflattering ways in their cartoons such as Rocky and Bullwinkle, George of the Jungle, Dudley Doo-Right and others.
A bit of trivia: Jay Ward also created the Cap'n Crunch character. If it was the Rocky %26amp; Bullwinkle show why did Boris always refer to them as Moose%26amp; Squirrel ?
It sounded way to funny to say ';Moose and Squirrel'; with his heavy accent.
My brother taught his girlfriend who was from Serbia to say ';Moose and Squirell';. She sounded just like Natasha, but she had no idea what the Rocky and Bullwinkle show was. When she found out, she tried to kill him with a golf club!
because rocky was a squirrel and bullwinkle was a moose. He didn't refer to them by name but by the animals that they were. degrading isn't it ?!?!
because he coulnt speak very good english and he didnot know there names
Because he was a russian communist (and a cartoon) with a bad accent and bad english - presumably, it was because his english wasn't good, and couldn't pronounce ';bullwinkle';.
Because Russian spies don't speak English. Duh! *wink*
The US helped to overthrow Fearless Leader and the country of Pottslvaynia at the end of the Cold War because they had enriched upsidasium and MWDs containing Goof Gas. Cpt Peachfuzz was the Ollie North of his time. Of course Boris and Natasia were paid off by the CIA. I think Michael Moore is writing a book to expose all of this and Oliver Stone wants to make a move, but Im not sure.
He was a little backwards--remember, his schemes never worked, either.
Because Boris was their enemy. Plus Bullwinkle was a moose and Rocky was a squirrel.
';When we last left our heroes...';
Moose, Moose, Moose %26amp; Squirrel,
Moose, Moose, Moose %26amp; Squirrel,
Moose, Moose, Moose %26amp; Squirrrelllllll...
(sung to the tune of ';Duke of Earl';.)
Well, English was clearly NOT Boris' first language %26amp; probably not his second, either. Also, he didn't respect them. Or like them, either.
Just because he could hear The Narrator, William (Cannon) Conrad, didn't mean that he would follow his lead. (';Vatever.';)
MAYBE BECAUSE HE DIDN'T KNOW THEIR NAMES...DUH...
Not confusing...he just didn't call them by their names.
Moose and Squirrel are what they are.
yes...i believe he did
it's called a runing gag
